The Lincoln Community Foundation currently manages over 450 different grant funds. Some of these grant funds allow donors to make grant recommendations to the Foundation while others have predetermined recipients that were specified by the funds' donors. In the remainder of cases, the donors have left the selection of grant recipients to the discretion of the Foundation and it is these discretionary grant funds which make up the grant pools listed below. The discretionary nature of these grant funds enables the Foundation to respond to emerging and changing community needs.

Program grants are available to help nonprofit organizations in Lincoln and Lancaster County, Nebraska, fund new or existing programs. There is one program grant cycle per year. General operating grants are available to fund the general operating and administration costs of nonprofit organizations in Lincoln and Lancaster County, Nebraska. These grants are unrestricted for use by nonprofit organizations. There is one general operating grant cycle per year. Application deadline is June 1. Capital grants are available to help nonprofit organizations in Lincoln and Lancaster County, Nebraska, fund the construction of a new facility or facility addition, the renovation or purchase of an existing facility, and/or the purchase of equipment (including furnishings and computer equipment). Quick response grants are available to nonprofit organizations in Lincoln and Lancaster County, Nebraska, to provide "quick" solutions to unexpected needs or special opportunities. These grants give nonprofits the opportunity to meet requests that could not typically be responded to due to the traditional application process and timeline or lack of funding sources. Quick response grants are broad in nature and are to be used for low-budget items (maximum of $500) that have the potential to benefit nonprofits and their constituents. Quick response grant applications are accepted throughout the year. Once the application is received, it may take up to two weeks before final decisions are made.
